Don't install free programs from the internet. They almost always have spambots or spyware attached to them.

When you buy your computer, back it up right away! This saves you from having to look for your drivers when and if it comes time to reinstall your operating system

Due Diligence - Keep it up to date and use all the security that comes with your system. If you run microsoft buy an antivirus software to avoid those nasty little spybots and virus' that flood the internet

Don't overload that hard drive with too many programs.

Buy good hardware. Good memory and good hard disk drives can make all the difference. Some are better than others. Some hard drives can't take ANY abuse.

Buy an external hard drive to store all your media in case you have to reinstall your OS. Some good names are Seagate and Western Digital.
